STG DV8 - Dead Dreams of Monochrome Men

Loosely based on the acts of serial killer Dennis Nilsen, this dance theatre piece by DV8 Physical Theatre explores the forces of societal homophobia and what drove Nilsen to kill for company. Created and performed by Lloyd Newson, Nigel Charnock, Russell Maliphant and Douglas Wright, this 1989 film is an emotionally raw look at lust and loneliness.

DV8 Physical Theatre’s Strange Fish pushes the boundaries of dance theatre to explore the pain of not belonging, the fear of being alone and the human need to believe in something. This 1992 production features a haunting score from Adrian Johnston and Jocelyn Pook.

Set in a testosterone-filled pub, DV8 Physical Theatre’s Enter Achilles sees eight men attempt to repress emotion and hide their paranoia and insecurities. Conceived by Lloyd Newson, this Emmy Award-winning film from 1995 explores violence, vulnerability and what it means to be a man.

STG Decadence

Steven Berkoff and Joan Collins star in this 1994 film about two couples indulging in sexual relations: Steve, a wealthy husband who’s having an affair with posh socialite Helen, and Sybil, Steve’s wife, who is sleeping with a private eye hired to kill her husband. Based on Berkoff’s original stage play, this satirical study of 1980’s Thatcherite Britain explores the divide between the upper and working classes, utilising poetic language, physicality and camera techniques to paint a damaging portrait of high society. Contains strong language, adult themes, and content that some viewers may find offensive."
